Changes and cancellations
A morning on the water is not a train ticket. Weather moves, children wake up unwell, flights are delayed. Here is exactly how we handle all of it — short, and written before you need it, so there is nothing to discover later.
Weather, sea or safety. Refunded in full, however late the call.
Change of plan, no explanation needed.
We have never charged one, so there is never one to lose.
When the sea decides against us
The captain calls it, and he calls it honestly. Sometimes the evening before, sometimes at first light, occasionally from the jetty with everyone already there. If the sea or the weather makes the trip unsafe — or simply not worth having — we cancel and you are refunded in full. Every rupee, no matter how late the decision comes.
We would far rather lose a booking than hand you a rough, grey morning and call it the thing you came for. That judgement is the captain’s, and it is not open to negotiation on the day.
If your dates allow it, we will offer you another morning first. Most people take it. Those who cannot simply get their money back.
When your plans change
They do, and we would rather hear it early than wonder where you are.
- A week or more Refunded in full. No explanation asked for and none needed.
- Two to seven days Seventy per cent refunded. The morning is already yours alone by then, and others have been turned away from it.
- Fewer than two days Nothing refunded. At that point the crew is booked, the food is bought and the day cannot be given to anyone else. It is also the one tier we will bend if something serious has happened — tell us what it is.
Before you cancel, ask about moving the date instead. Changing a day costs nothing and is nearly always possible outside the fortnight around New Year. Most cancellations turn out to be a change of plan rather than a change of heart, and a change of plan is easy.
On the morning itself
We leave at 07:30, and the time matters: it is an hour before the day boats are on the water, which is the whole reason the lagoon is quiet when we get there. Please be at the boat ten or fifteen minutes before.
We will wait where we can, and a short delay is nobody’s tragedy. But a late start costs you the best part of the morning rather than the end of it, and if the boat cannot leave at all, the trip counts as taken.
Things outside anyone’s hands
Cyclone warnings, a closed port, a national emergency, or the rare event nobody plans for. When the authorities close the water or travel becomes impossible, we will move your date or return your money.
We work these out with the guest in front of us rather than pointing at a clause. There has not yet been a case we could not settle in a single conversation.
How to tell us
A message is enough. WhatsApp +230 5475 0404 or [email protected] — no forms, no portal, no reference number to dig out of an old email. Tell us who you are and which morning, and that is the cancellation done.
We answer every message. If you have not heard back within a day, assume something went wrong with the message rather than with us, and try the other number.
How the money comes back
The way it arrived. Paid in cash, returned in cash; sent by transfer, returned by transfer. We aim to have it moving the same week and we will tell you when it has gone.
There is no booking fee to deduct, because we have never charged one. Nothing is held back for administration, for the platform, or for the trouble. What you paid is what comes back.
What booking means
When you confirm a date with us, you are agreeing to this page. It is short on purpose, and it is the whole of it — there is no second document.
If something here reads as unfair in your particular situation, write and say so. These are our terms, not a wall.
